The endurance group were spread far and wide on Saturday with representation in the Dublin Graded at the DSD Campus, at the British Milers meet in Belfast and in Manchester at the Podium Classic 5K (plus).
Dublin Graded:
The men's 800m saw four DSD athletes toe the line with Andrew McGilton and Jamie Byrne taking a break from their studies to race. Jamie took the early pace only to succumb to a strong finishing Andrew who placed 2nd in 1.56.9, Andrew was followed home by his fast finishing brother George who finished 5th in a PB of 1.57.8. Jamie closed in 6th in 1.58 and Conor McGlynn7th in 2.02
In the Womens 800 Aimee Kenna, making a return to racing after a 7 year hiatus won the B race in 2.22. Aimee took an early lead striding away from the field only to be caught with 150m to go however she showed great grit and determination to hang on for the win.
In the 3K races Maria McCambridge continued her good form with a win in 10.07, Ruben Bartelink finished 7th in the mens B race in 9.37, Ciaran Connolly 10th in 9.46.
British Milers Meet
Eanna O'Bradaigh opened up for DSD at the Belfast BMC finishing 10th in a competitive 3K in a PB of 8.40, Sean Quinn kept the PB's going winning his Mile heat in 4.15 (3.57 for 1500), David Gormley also won his heat in 4.30 (4.10 1500), Morgan Clarkson finished 12th in his heat in 4.45 (4.06 for 1500).
Manchester
Meghan Ryan, Grace Lynch and Emmett Jennings took to the roads in Manchester all posting 5K PB's. Grace led the way in the women's race finishing 5th in a high quality field posting a 5K PB of 15.57, breaking that 16minute barrier for the first time. Meghan followed closely in 11th position posting a PB of 16.15 for 5K.
In the men's event Emmet Jennings finished 10th completing 5K in a PB of 14.05
