D.S.D., athletes were also in action on the International front in Wales on Saturday, when we had no less than six athletes, representing Ireland, at the Celtic International Cross Country. Sophie Murphy continued her good form in the U.20 Women’s race with a brilliant 4th place, with Jodie McCann backing up her team mate, to finish 10th. Both were part of the winning Irish team (u.20) with Scotland 2nd and Wales 3rd. Our lone representative in the U.20 Boys was national U.19 champion Paul O’Donnell, who was always up with the leaders, for a 5th place finish, playing a big part in a team victory for Ireland in this category.
Maria McCambridge, former Dublin City Marathon winner, showed she is still a force to be reckoned with over shorter distances, as she was just run out of bronze position, finishing a close up 4th. In the U.23 race Bethany Murray was 3rd with Sarah Fitzpatrick 9th. Sarah has just returned to competition after a long lay-off. Well done to all!
