Ciarán Carthy displayed top class at the Leinster Schools Combined Events yesterday in the National Indoor Arena, Abbotstown. After a very successful track season, Ciarán continued his improvement when winning the Inter Boys, 60m Hurdles in 8.88; 200m 22.60; Long Jump 6.52, and with P.B’s also in Shot 10.12 and 800m 2.05.70, he accumulated a total of 3,438 points, to qualify for Saturday’s Schools All-Ireland Combined Events.
Also doing well in his first ever Combined Events was Gavin Doran, who finished 4th in the Junior Boys with the following results: 60m hurdles 10.17; Shot 8.88; Long Jump 5.15; 200m 24.50 and 800m 2.28.55, to give a total score of 2307.
