DSD endurance Squad where out in force in Enfield last night for the Bob Heffernan and Mary Hanley 5K road race.
This race is part of the eighth race Peugeot Race series. Going into this event the DSD endurance squad led the team competition by three points having won the Portlaoise and Kilkenny events.
The team competition is based on a Team of 6 and must include 3 women and 3 Men.
DSD won the overall team competition to extend their lead in the Series to 13 points with some great performances on the night:
· The DSD women won the women’s team competition
· The DSD men finishing 3rd in the men’s team competition.
In the Women’s race DSD were led home by Grace Lynch, finishing 4th in a PB of 16.08 with Meghan Ryan following in 5th ,in 16.21 also a PB. Eimear Maher was the 3rd scorer finishing 9th (PB 16.47), Emma McEvoy right behind in 10th (PB 16.48), Maria McCambridge 17th (17.25), Serena Tuffy 22nd (PB 17.47), Saoirse O’Brien 35th (18.30), Sadbh Byrne 103rd in 21.03.
Eimear, Emma, Saoirse were also 1st,2nd ,3rd in the junior women’s competition and Maria McCambridge won the Over 45 category.
In the men’s race Eanna O Bradaigh led the team home finishing 18th in a PB of 15.20. He was followed home by Patrick Elliot 28th (15.27), Sean Quinn in 31st (15.32), David Gormley 32nd (15.35), Oscar Lubliner 39th 15.49, Adriele Primo Mello 123rd (17.13), David Gillick 129th (17.17).
Sean and Oscar finishing 2nd and 3rd in the Junior men’s competition.
The strong performances from all of the athletes from Juniors to Masters, demonstrates the strength in depth of the clubs endurance group.
Next stop in the Peugeot series of races is the Aisling Murphy 4 Mile in Tullamore this Sunday 21st May. DSD will again field a strong team who will be looking for victory to consolidate our lead in the overall team competition.
