Dream Debut for Elizabeth

Elizabeth Ndudi enjoyed a dazzling first appearance in an Irish singlet last weekend at the international athletics meeting for Under 18s in Franconville, France.

Elizabeth was trained by Damien Moran and Terri Carthy originally before moving to France and her talents as a sprinter and long jumper have blossomed in recent years. It was clearly a talented group which has now produced three international athletes (Elizabeth, Ciara Wilson Bowen and Rebecca Carthy) but they are mainly remembered in DSD as a very tight group who brought smiles and good cheer wherever they competed.

Elizabeth was amongst the top performers at the event last weekend where developing athletes from Ireland competed against top young athletes from France and Luxembourg. She won the long jump with an astonishing 6.28 jump, the longest outdoor jump by an Irish woman this year and just short of her PB of 6.36.

She ran 11.98 (+0.3) in the 100m to finish fourth in a highly competitive race and again this cements her place in the higher echelons of Irish 100m rankings.

Hopefully, we will see Elizabeth wearing her DSD colours back home very soon.
