DSD Games 2023

Dear Club Members/Parents/Guardians & Supporters

Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club (DSDAC) is one of Ireland’s largest and most decorated athletics clubs. It was established in the mid 1980s with the merger of Dundrum Athletics Club and South Dublin Athletics Club. Our members live in Ballinteer, Dundrum, Leopardstown, Mount Merrion, Ranelagh, Rathgar, Sandyford, Stillorgan and further afield.

The club is committed to the provision of athletic pursuits by certified coaches for all ages, from children to masters, and at all levels, from recreational running and field events through to High Performance, with a current membership of over 600.

  • DSDAC is the owner and operator of the Women’s Mini Marathon and the Sandyford 5k road races which take place in June and September each year.

  • DSDAC was named ‘Performance Club of the Year’ in February 2022 by Athletics Ireland.

  • DSDAC were crowned ‘All Ireland Club Women’s Premier Division winners

  • The club has 13 Olympians among its members.

Until 2022 the club had no central training facility and members trained in various locations including Marlay Park. Between 2013 and 2016 DSDAC marshalled its own resources to buy 25 acres of the St Thomas Estate on the junction of Kilmashogue Lane and Tibradden Road.

The site was developed to include an international standard track, kilometres of surrounding running trails and 140 car park spaces and all training groups are based on the DSD Sports Campus.

To celebrate, DSDAC is hosting it’s first ever Athletics Ireland licensed track & field competition event for athletes from age 16 upwards on Sunday 18th June 2023 called DSD Games 2023.

DSDAC expect over 400 athletes from all over Ireland and abroad to compete in 12 disciplines for men and women supported by 80 volunteers and officials.

The event is included on the AAI 2023 Competition Fixtures Calendar and will be publicised on AAI & DSDAC social media channels and hopefully a live stream on the day.

We hope to attract a further 400 spectators throughout the day with a number of catering stalls providing food and drink.

DSDAC is asking for your support in hosting this event.
