A master class of 7 DSD Masters athletes travelled North last weekend to compete in the Northern Ireland Masters Championships on Sat 26th June 2021.
They returned laden down with bling!
Lucy Moore-Fox - W60
Gold - Weight Throw - 10.23m (a new Irish age group record - up from 9.34m last year);
Gold - Hammer - 24.85m (SB)
Silver - Shot Put - 7.60m
Silver - LJ - 2.96m (her 1st LJ competition in 10 years)!
Mary Gowing - W50
Bronze in 100m (then a dash into Belfast with her daughter Niamh for some quality time before Niamh's return to Providence in US, where she is on a Hockey scholarship).
Vigetta Moran - W45
Silver - Hammer,
Silver - Shot Putt 6.58m (great PB),
Silver - Weight Throw 5.82m. (PB)
Avril Dillon - W40
Gold - 100m (13.00)
Gold - 80m Hurdles (12.61).
Peadar McGing - M65
The eldest of the touring party and the most successful of the day, bringing home 5 Gold, 1 Silver and a new Irish age group record!
Gold - 100m hurdles (18.81 new Irish age group record; previous record stood since 2012)
Gold - Hammer (distance private 😉)
Gold - 300m hurdles (50.77 seconds)
Gold - HIgh jump (1.34m)
Gold - Triple jump (9.21m)
Silver - 400m (68.08 secs).
Shane Sheridan - M60
Gold - 100m
Gold - 200m - well ahead of nearest rivals.
Ronan Gately - M50
Bronze - 100m
Bronze - 200m
Overall, it was a wonderful day of competition and friendship in the beautiful surrounds that is the Mary Peters Track in Belfast.
Roll on the Leinster Masters this weekend 3rd and 4th July in Carlow IT.
