Who is this for? This programme is aimed at first time runners or those who have not run in quite some time. In other words although it is definitely a challenge it is designed to be achievable for all. The fun and support of training with a group is really motivating.
When and where? The sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm. We meet in Ballinteer Community School for a warm up and then we head out around the area on our walk/run programme. We will start with 20 minutes of walking/jogging and build up to running for 5k without stopping by the end of the 10 weeks.
What do I need to wear/bring? Gear you can move comfortably in and a bottle of water. Layers are best so you don’t get too hot/cold during the session. A high viz top/vest is compulsory to keep everyone safe and seen when out running.
How do I sign up? You register as a member of the Meet and Train Group (choose the option of 2 Volunteering Days which will cost €70.) This cost covers both the Couch to 5K programme and gives you membership of our very friendly Meet and Train Group until September. We are always delighted when people progress on to the main group after completing the Couch to 5K programme. (Note: We only ask people who join the main group for 1 volunteering day for 2018).
What next? Once you have registered please email Edel at dsdcouchto5k@gmail.com to say you are all signed up and ready for our first session on Tuesday 16th January!
