A comprehensive win for Sean Healy was the highlight of the Dublin Juvenile Cross Country Championships in Abbotstown yesterday. This u16 race was of national status, but Sean replied to every surge during the race to produce a storming run to the finish line.
A great run also by Isabella Thompson Beddy in the U.18 girls race saw her finish a gallant 2nd.
In the u18 boys race, Andrew MacGilton, in 4th position, led D.S.D. to a team win
Our u.12 girls team finished 2nd and u.12 boys 3rd, with our U.16 boys also 3rd.
It was also great to see so many of our athletes qualify to run for the club, or Dublin County in the National finals.
In the Autumn International Senior race Emmet Jennings produced his usual good finish in 9th position (23.00); Eimear Maher placed 6th in the Junior Women's race (16.54), with Saoirse O'Brien 11th (17.26).
There was an unfortunate clash in the underage programme, with relays clashing with Dublin C.C. races, weakening some club teams. Nevertheless our U.13 boys and girls were in contention in these age groups, with a huge turnout from every county. A great idea but hopefully with forward planning next year will see this clash avoided.
