At the East Leinster Cross Country Championships at Avondale House, D.S.D athletes were in top form with six individual wins. Sophie Murphy and Jodie McCann dominated the Senior Girls Race, crossing the finishing line holding hands, well clear of the field. James Maguire and Conor Halpin had a titanic battle for gold and silver in the SeniorBoys with James just edging it at the finish. The good news continued in the younger age groups with Eimear Maher (U.14) and Alex O’Floinn (U.15) registering their first open race wins and with Morgan Clarkson an easy winner of the U.14 boys, it was a clean sweep of the younger age groups. It will not be surprising if many of the top finishers in the U.17 Girls race are in the first six of the All-Ireland Schools, as national and international winners Sarah Healy and her Blackrock team mate Amy Rose Farrell finished 1st and 2nd, with Abbie Taylor not far behind in 3rd place, in the highest class race of the day.
