Emma & Sean do us proud at Euro Cross Country!

Emma McEvoy made an outstanding return to the international stage at the European Cross-Country Championships in Antalya, Turkey on Sunday.

Emma produced her best run to date finishing 13th in the U23 Women’s 6K race. Emma started well and got onto the back of a large lead pack early on. The course was undulating and had a number of tricky hurdles and sections with difficult underfoot conditions to negotiate.

After the first 2K Emma had settled into 26th position with the Irish team in 4th place overall. Emma set herself a good rhythm and she continued to make progress over the next laps to move up to 20th position heading into the final mile. Finishing strong she made up further places to finish a fine 13th place, with the Irish team finishing 5th place.

Sean Quinn running his first European Cross-Country Championship, finished a fighting 40th. Running mid-pack for most of the race Sean moved through the field to give a strong account of himself in his debut international event.

Well done to Emma & Sean!
