Emma McEvoy travelled to Watford on Saturday to test herself against some of the best distance athletes in the UK at the British Milers Club meet. With a personal best of 16.33 going into the race Emma was ranked 23rd of the 24 athletes on the starting line. Emma settled into the main pack early on, running strongly and gaining confidence with every lap. The main pack had settled into a 16min pace, lapping at steady 77 sec laps. Emma went through 3K on the back of the pack in 17th position running a 3K PB of 9.35secs as she went. As the race progressed through the final 2K the pack started to thin out but Emma remained in contact continuing to run at a steady 77 sec per lap. With a strong finish over the final 600m Emma moved through into 12th position and finish in a massive track PB of 16.07 – this time puts Emma 2nd on the Irish U23 list for 2024 and into the top 25 in Europe.
