DSD Overseas members have been showing some very encouraging early-season form.
Sean Roth has slowly built his way back from injury and has progressed week by week since opening his season with a 5.05m vault on 25th March. Last weekend Sean took a significant step forward/upward with a 5.33m clearance for 2nd at the ACC championships (watch here). This was a new PB, DSD record and puts him only 3cm off the Irish record. Onto regionals and hopefully the NCAA's now for Sean.
Georgie Hartigan skipped World Indoors to put in a block of training in the US and was rewarded with a 1500m PB 4.09.87 at the Penn Relays on 30th April. This is just behind Siofra's club record of 4.09.67. Georgie has backed this up with good runs in California 4.10.70 and in
London at the Highgate Night of PBs taking 5th in the Millicent Fawcett Mile.
New club member Rocco Zamman-Browne kicked off his season with a bronze at the British Uni Champs over 800m in 1.48.12 on 2nd May. A few days later in the BMC at Birmingham he just missed his PB with a 1.47.52. Nice scalp off Olympian Oliver Dustin though!
After some niggles over the winter Zak Curran is looking good for a summer of racing. A couple of good 400s already under his belt with a 47.64 on 3rd May, fingers crossed we see him in an 800 before the end of the month.
Watch out for Georgie and Rocco at the Birmingham Diamond League this weekend.
Forza DSD!
