With non-stop rain over the weekend, the younger athletes competing at League 1, Dublin Cross-Country, in Lusk, got a tough introduction to cross-country running. Well done to the organisers on setting out a good course, with the addition of hay stacks to add to the occasion, and also to all the athletes, parents and coaches.
Our U.14 girls, Anna 1st and Keeva 5th put in a great effort, with the U.14 boys also impressive. Con McCluskey led early on in the 1200m, finishing in 4th place with newcomer Xamie 10th; Cillian Connolly 12th, and also running his first race for D.S.D was Liam O’Flaherty in 13th position.
Dylan McCambridge Crossan was best of the U.13 boys finishing 5th, with Harry O'Meara 7th and Luca Moran 9th.
Cameron Fallon 4th U.15 Boys.
Lorena Butler 4th u.12 Girls; 15th Aoife Conlon; 20th Freya Gavin
Olivia Butler 5th U.13 Girls; 15th Anna O'Kennedy
Anna Kellegher finished 1st U.14 Girls
Sophie Lawrence 6th and Georgia Norton 8th U.15 Girls.
The rain stopped just as the U9 girls got underway with plenty of mud, a few hills and even some haystacks to jump over.
U9 athletes Sophia Belviso and Oscar Doran enjoyed their first chance of competing in cross country.
U10 Girls Ciara Culhane (4th), Hannah O 'Reilly (5th), Martha Flynn (8th), Ellen McGlinchey (17th), Emilia Belviso and Réiltín Donnelly all grouped together very well as a promising team going forward.
U10 Boys Eoghan, Michael Shorthall, Ruairi Connolly and Jamie Molloy Fortes all completed very well in their first race of the season.
It is great preparation for everybody for the Dublin Championships in 3 weeks time.
Well done to all!
