Joe Hastings, our top 1500m performer over the last few years 🔥💫
When and why did you join DSD?
I joined in 2019 shortly after leaving college. I was getting more into running and a lot of my friends were DSD members so it was the perfect choice.
What is your favourite/best event?
1500m. I dabble with the 800 but I’m a miler at heart.
What is the proudest moment in your athletics career so far?
Irishtown IMC 2018. My first year racing and first time breaking 4 mins for 1500, a 12 second PB at the time. There’s been some bigger and faster races since but that sunny day in Irishtown will be hard to beat.
What is your favourite athletics moment in history?
Ciara Mageean’s European 1500m gold this year. Amazing to see an Irish athlete back on top of a major championship podium.
If you could do a session with any athlete past or present, who would you pick and why?
Probably Evan Jager (as long as he didn’t make me jump barriers). Used to love watching his Flotrack videos back in the day. Definitely an athlete I looked up to when I first started running
