Hi All,
While some Adult Groups were able return to training during Phase 1 of the Re-Opening, DSD is at last in a position recommence limited Juvenile training. All Juvenile & Adult Training is subject to strict adherence to the Protocols set out in the Links below. We respectively ask ALL Parents and Juvenile/Adult Athletes to familiarise themselves with these protocols.
Where are the approved training locations?
At present Marlay Park an St. Thomas Estate are approved for DSD training. Irishtown Stadium is re-opening this week and we expect to finalise our Risk Assessment and Track Protocols during the week to allow training to commence in Irishtown. We will update you once these matters are finalised.
Who can return to training?
All adult groups (Masters/Senior/M&T etc..) can return to group training subject to the Protocols set out and pre-booking your place is essential (see pre-booking note below).
With regard to Juveniles initially during this Phase, U15 (ie. aged 14) and older athletes will return to Club training. This will mean the following Juvenile Groups will return during the early stages of this phase (again these groups are subject to pre-booking see note below):
· Liz’s Sprints & Hurdles Group.
· Donal/Eddie Endurance Group.
· Gerry McGrath’s F4Y Group.
Please note athletes aged 12 and younger are not permitted to attend any club training during this phase. We hope to bring athletes aged 13 back over the next couple of weeks and will update you as soon as this becomes available.
How do I book a place for training?
Firstly, your Coaches will advise when your group will return to training. As you will see in the Protocols Document we are required to keep accurate records of attendances for each and every training session. This is to facilitate ease of Contact Tracing in the event of exposure to Covid 19. To facilitate attendance record keeping and ensure we do not breach the group size numbers as per the Protocols/Guidelines set by Athletics Ireland and HSE/Government, we have set up a Pre-booking system as follows:
· Juvenile’s Parent or Adult Athletes contact your respective Coach to book your place.
· Your Coach will confirm your place.
· If you have not received confirmation or a training session is full, please do not turn up unannounced as to be turned away can cause embarrassment for all concerned.
· Where a training session is full, your coach will try to facilitate you at the next training session.
Finally, as we re-emerge from the closure of the country we look forward to getting back to some normality. These new restrictions and protocols have put an enormous amount of responsibility and expectation on our Club Officials who are volunteers with a love for DSD and our sport. Your co-operation and patience as we implement these new procedures will be much appreciated.
Yours in sport.
Damien Moran
