Well done to all who competed in the Juvenile Indoor All Ireland Championships held last weekend in AIT, Athlone. Report can be viewed on our website here. Best of Luck to all competing in the Relays and Field events this Saturday.

DSD Additional Juvenile Training Sessions (Dates for your Diary)

Relay Sunday: Venue: Irishtown Stadium. Date: Sunday 14th April. Time: 12.30pm to 2pm.

Relay Sunday is an open training session specfically for relays. All welcome from U9 (born 2011) and up. Sorry this training session is not suitable for those born in 2012. They’re too young to compete in this years’ Championships/Leagues. Please note coaches will be using this relay session to select relay teams. It’s important that you attend if you wish to be part of a relay sqaud.

Note:

It should be noted a Relay Squad (Team) is made up of 4 runners plus up to 2 subs. Preferably Coaches would like to field as many relay teams (min. number is 4 runners) where possible. This is a team event, once committed you’re expected to be available. Unexpected last minute drop outs can force the team out of the competition.

Squad Sundays part 3 & 4: Venue: Irishtown Stadium. Dates: 28th April and 19th May. Time: 12pm to 2pm.

Open training session for ALL Club members (including those born in 2012). Get some valuable time on a track, experience the field events, try new events, learn new skills and best of all meet your fellow club mates from Irishtown\BCS\Marlay. These training sessions are preparation for the T&F season, we encourage all to attend.

Competition Fixtures (More dates for your diary):

Click here for up dated schedule of competition fixtures. Kindly note change of dates for T&F League 2 is now 27th April (moved from 20/04/19) and the U9-U11 Team/Relay Championships has changed to 11th May (moved from 25/05/19).

Track & Field (T&F) Leagues 1 to 4.

The next competition fixtures are:

L1 – 13th April at Santry Stadium (Click for L1 Timetable)

L2 – 27th April at Santry Stadium (Click for L2 Timetable)

How does the League work? With the Leagues you do not pre-register for the competition. You simply turn up at least 1 hour before your first event, register with our club official (at the DSD flag) to receive your ‘Age Label’. Athletes can compete in all events scheduled for their respective age group.

Points are awarded to the top 6 athletes in each event over the 4 Leagues. 7pts for 1st place, 5pts for 2nd, 4pts for 3rd, 3pts for 4th, 2pts for 5th and 1pt for 6th. The top 6 athletes with the most accumulated points over the 4 Leagues are awarded a medal/trophy. Obviously, the more events you enter the more chances of accumulating points. The Leagues are an opportunity to try new events and to get some competition practice before the Dublin Championships.

Notes:

At all competitions Club Singlets must be worn. (see below how to order a singlet).

Registered athletes from U10 (born 2010) to U16 (born 2004) are eligible to compete. U9 (born 2011) are permitted to compete in the U10 category.

Athletes can only compete in their respective age group, stepping up/down an age category is not permitted. (Except for U9 (born 2011) athletes can step up to U10)

Kindly note DSD is a competitive Athletic Club and expect athletes to compete in upcoming League and Championship competitions from U9 (born in 2011) upwards. We don’t expect athletes to attend all competitions, but an effort to compete in some competitions should be demonstrated. We do not expect or put any pressure on athletes to win medals, our only expectation is an athlete to participate and compete to the best of their ability. Athletes who continually do not participate in competitions will have their membership reviewed.

Club Singlets:

In advance of upcoming competitions – should anyone wish to purchase a Club Singlet – these can now be ordered and collected from the Club / Women’s Minimarathon (WMM) Office in Sandyford Business Park or mailed out for a small additional charge of €5. Email dsdacinfo@gmail.com for full details on how to order.

Singlets cost €20 for collection (€25 including postage).

Crop Tops cost €25 for collection (€30 including postage). Limited stock available.

Please note singlets will no longer be available at competition venues. Purchases of singlets must be done through the WMM office.
