Highlight of the AAI Games at the weekend, in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena, was the performance of Lorcan Murphy in the Combined Events. Lorcan led up to the final two events, being overtaken by the title holder, who was going for three in a row. The winner pulled out a PB of 4730 points, with Lorcan a newcomer to the event, scoring 4692. This is all the more remarkable as Lorcan has just retired from a highly successful international basketball career.
Amy O’Donoghue continued on her winning way with gold in the Women’s 3000m. Our mixed relay 4x400 teams finished 1st and 2nd, with Molly Mullally taking 2nd place in the triple jump.
Our Masters also had a very good weekend and they will give a full report themselves shortly.
