Over 70 Meet and Train athletes from Dundrum South Dublin will take to the streets on Sunday 27th October.
Among the group will be two members of the team that will be taking on the challenge for the first time.
Emma Howard, TU Dublin, who has written about her her experience to date on her preparation on RTE.ie
"The act of simply signing up for a marathon might not be sufficient to ensure you stick to the plan. Joining a running club is another commitment device that can be help keep you on track. A marathon has long been on my bucket list, but I knew that I couldn’t cope with the long training runs alone. I joined Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club (DSD) last year with the idea that I might do the marathon sometime soon."
Ellie Woulfe has a different perspective, having started her journey with running at our local Marley Park Run and then joining the meet and train group as part of her families commitment to the benefits of running. Ellie has a daughter Evie who recently joined DSD as one of our youngest members of the club. This is not remarkable, what is remarkable is that Evie has CF and competes in the junior 2k park run regularly, Ellie is doing her marathon in the hopes of raising awareness and funds for CF Ireland.
