The Night of the 10,000m PB’s has become an important and popular international night of Racing in the UK track calendar.
The event held at the Parliament Hill Track on Saturday 18th May, and hosted by Highgate Harriers incorporates the British championships and Olympic trials.
Over the years the atmosphere has developed into something spectacular as spectators take ownership of the track into Lane 5. The event includes circus entertainment, lactic tunnels of love, home straight pedestrian bridge, infield spectating, live music & back straight DJ.
On a hot and humid afternoon Meghan Ryan took on an international field in the early evening program to win convincingly in 34.49. Having settled into the pack for the early laps Meghan moved through the field and at half way had opened a 20m lead, moving stride for stride with the race pacer.
When the pacer dropped out with 7 laps to go, Meghan, holding a 30m lead, maintained a consistent rhythm, ticking off 83 second laps to move further away from her rivals in the end winning by a 25 second margin form Norway’s Karoline Mongstad.
Meghans prize for this great achievement was to win her weight in Beer ! Needless to say her travelling support had a great afternoon.
