Return to Training 2023 (Adult/Juvenile Groups).

Dear Athletes/Parents,

We hope you all had a good Christmas and are ready to return to training in 2023! It is with great pleasure to finally say we are a ‘United Club at One Location’ and no longer split at different training locations. All juvenile/adult groups are now based at the DSD Campus on Tibradden Road, previous training locations such as BCS/Irishtown are now discontinued.

PLEASE READ THIS NOTICE IN FULL:

This notice relates to all Adult/Juvenile Groups. We appreciate there is a lot of information contained in this notice, however, it is extremely important you take note and understand what is required of all Members.

Training Times:

Please click here to view the Weekly Timetable for all Juvenile/Adult Groups. These are the agreed core Training Times of all Groups. Please note the following:

  • All training at the Campus is coach led.

  • Group/Individual Non-coach led training is NOT permitted.

  • Unsupervised/Unauthorised access to the Track/Trails/Gym is NOT permitted.

  • Athletes should only train at the scheduled time/day for their respective training group.

TIME/DAY CHANGES:

The athletes from the Wednesday Juvenile training session held in Irishtown have been incorporated into their respective age groups with 2010/2011/2012 athletes training on Tuesday and/or Thursday at 6pm and those born in 2013/2014/2015/2016 will join the existing Little Athletics Groups who train each Wednesday at 6pm.

We have also scheduled a Saturday morning timeslot for Little Athletics and Juvenile Groups – with further details to follow.

Warm Up Zones & Track/Trails Etiquette:

It should be noted athletics tracks are very busy areas with multiple Adult/Juvenile Groups using the track. In the interest of every athlete’s safety, we have set designated use of the track for the various groups. It is vital that ALL MEMBERS familiarise themselves and understand the Zoned Warm Up Areas, the designated use of the Track Lanes and Track & Trails Etiquette. See Links below:

Juvenile Check-in:

Coaches will issue training invites for each training session. Please Accept/Decline the training invite. Check-in for each group will be at the track in-field opposite the viewing stand. If an athlete is late arriving, please go to your groups designated Warm-up Zone and make yourself known to Coaches who will record your attendance. (Assigned group warm-up zones are listed on the Training Timetable).

Spikes – 5mm in size only:

It should be noted when wearing spikes on the track, the spike inserts/studs should be at maximum 5mm in size. Inspection of athlete’s spikes can be requested by a Coach/DSD Official at any time, and if it is found the size of the spike insert/studs exceeds 5mm the athlete will not be permitted to wear the spikes until the insert/stud is changed to the correct size.

Drop-off / Collection / Parking:

Please note parking space is limited and we respectfully request members only park in the designated parking area. Preferably, athletes should be dropped off at the ‘Set Down’ area before training and collected in the same area after training.

For safety reasons we ask parents not to let young athletes wander the carpark when dropping off or at collection time. Your co-operation in this matter would be much appreciated.

Return Dates:

Some Adult/Juvenile groups are currently back training; however, all Juvenile Tuesday and Thursday Training will recommence from Tuesday 3rd January 2023. The Wednesday Little Athletics Groups will re-commence from 11th January 2023. Adult groups should contact their coaches for return dates.

Dates for your diary (Juvenile Competition):

We are no sooner back from the Christmas break when we are preparing for the upcoming Indoor T&F Season. Click here to view the 2023 Competition Dates. We will issue further communication about the Dublin Juvenile Indoor Championships Schedule of Events and Entry process once available.

Juvenile Age Category 2023:

Please note from 1st January 2023 all Juvenile athletes move up an age group. For example, those born in 2011 were U12 during 2022, will now move to U13 for the year 2023. Click here to view the 2023 Age Category Schedule.

Finally, wishing a Happy New Year to all our Members. We look forward to seeing you in 2023 for a new beginning and hopefully exciting times ahead.

Yours in sport.

Sharon Wilson (Athletics Operations Director) &

Damien Moran (Head Juvenile Coach)
