Shane shines in Tullamore!



Well done to all our Juvenile athletes, who competed at the weekend in Tullamore, at the National Juvenile Track & Field Championships, in atrocious wet and windy conditions.

Shane Gevero ignored the conditions, running a fast 200m heat and coming back later to snatch the gold medal in 22.69. David Bosch, who runs the 400m next weekend, finished 4th 23.22. Shane followed up on his 200m success finishing 3rd in a close finish 100m 11.40 (11.39 heat).


Cal Traynor Russell also returned to good form finishing 2nd in the U.16 Boys 200 final 23.44.

Eoghan Fitzmaurice finished 2nd in a very exciting 250m hurdles final, where he lead right up to the last hurdle, and was just outsprinted in race to the finish line. Rachel Lynch 4th U15 250m hurdles, and Robert Hayes 5th U.17 300m hurdles.


In the High Jump Daniel Conway won silver in the U.14 Boys 1.55; Lauryn Healy 2nd 1.48 and Alannah Giles 4th 1.40, U.14 Girls.



Congrats also to all our throwers, where in the U.16 Hammer (4kg) Sami Bishti finished 2nd with a very good throw of 50.60; Brian Walsh 3rd 40.89 and Michael Walsh 4th. Aaron Connolly 3rd U.15 Hammer (3kg) 28.84; Michael Walsh took bronze in the U.16 Discus 36.94.

Jamie Byrne U.17 5th 3000m boys 8.58.13 and Isabella Tomkin Beddy 5th U.17 Girls 3000m 10.42.


Ciara Wilson Bowen also performed very well, in the lashing rain, to take bronze in the U.17 3k walk.
