Meghan Ryan was in top form for D.S.D Senior Women’s team, in Santry on Sunday, as she chased the early leader, Anna Reddin of Crusaders, for the first lap. Both were joined by Ide Nic Dhomhnaill (Donore), who then forged ahead going into the last lap. Anna then dropped back as Meghan dug in with great courage to equal her 2nd place of last year. Linda Byrne, D.S.D’s Olympic Marathon performer, moved down in distance to help her team to 2nd place, with Amy Moran 10th and Harriet Robinson 11th. Crusaders A.C beat D.S.D to gold with 23 points to 27 points.
Robert Corbally played a captain’s part for our Senior Men’s team, finishing a gallant 3rd place, after an epic battle with Colm Rooney and Cathal Doyle, both of Clonliffe Harriers. Killian Mooney joined the leading three after the first lap pushing the pace for a long way, during the 10,000m race and finishing 4th behind the more experienced senior performers, and had the consolation of picking up a silver team medal, with Paul O’Donnell 11th, Ruadhan O’Grada 16th, Aengus Meldon 26th and Kevin Power Kelly 49th.
