Reflecting on the national cross country last weekend and the very enjoyable trip to Fermanagh where DSD fortunes undulated like the course. Amazingly, the men’s team had the makings of a medal contending team on the sidelines. I left feeling hopeful.
The AAI awards took place on Wednesday and we had a very enjoyable evening at the awards ceremony, although we did not win Performance club of the year, we congratulate Leevale, but will compete as hard as usual to win in the future.
147 DSD Juveniles took part in XC league 3 today, showing DSD's strength in numbers and some great performances. Thanks to parents, DSD officials and the athletes, we could not achieve this level of participation without you. A special mention to Sharon for her back office work which is an enormous load which many have no idea of the time involved. Thank you Sharon.
Recently retired international basketball star, Lorcan Murphy has joined the club and reportedly is enjoying training with us very much. A former All Ireland schools high jump champ, he is turning to multi events and should give a major boost to our T&F team. (See reference to Leevale above). Welcome Lorcan.
Stephen Judge got us grant approval from DLR for coach development (€1,800)
All the athletes who braved the weather this week in the club well done, some of the younger athletes enjoyed a skate on the inner track on the ice.
But highlight of the week was Ger Dunne getting the roller shutter fixed in the gym. It;s the little wins....
