We have fond memories of DSD members going all out to support the Women's Mini Marathon each June bank holiday weekend! Some don the DSD singlet and do a fine job representing the Club; others are all over the place with the bright Volunteer T-shirts doing both exciting and boring has-to-be-done jobs. This is DSD at its best! The Vhi Women's Mini Marathon is one of the largest women's event of its kind in the world.
So, we'd love to see as many of our DSD women and friends get out there and take on the 2021 Vhi Mini Marathon! Sign up and hit those 10K on the weekend of Friday 17th to Sunday 19th September. And bring your ma.
Since it started in 1983, 1.06 million women have completed the 10K course. Together they've covered more Kms than 13 round trips to the Moon! And they've raised a staggering €250 million in the process!
DSD and Vhi took on the challenge of going virtual in 2020. That worked a treat with over 20,000 women participating in their local towns and abroad. Now that the stubborn Covid is still doing the rounds, DSD and Vhi decided to become experts in this virtual event for 2021!
The 2021 Vhi Women's Mini Marathon comes with some fantastic developments. While we can’t all be together in Dublin this year, runners can Race The Real Route on the exciting new Event App. Whether participants are taking part in Killybegs or Kildare, Birr or Bunclody, Sligo or even Singapore, they can still Race the Real Route on the new app! No matter where friends are, they can run as a virtual team and watch each other progress along the virtual route!
This year's Vhi Women's Mini Marathon takes place on the weekend of Friday 17th to Sunday 19th September.
To facilitate those taking part over the weekend, the live race can be accessed on our the app from Friday 17th September to Sunday September 19th 2021. Participants can choose what day/s suit best as long as they complete the distance by 19th September.
Oh, finally! We mentioned volunteers. Well, a HUGE thanks to the DSDers and their families who packed the goody bags. One of those has-to-be-done jobs! These hidden things make the Mini Marathon the fantastic event that it is.
