Week 1 of 2025 - Chairman's Notes

The Goal Mile New Year’s Day gave me a great boost – a great collective effort by the club to put it on and a couple of thousand euros for charity.  I hope it will become an annual fixture.

I was outsprinted by an Olympian.  (She was pushing a buggy.)

Clubzap debuted as our new comms app.  Early signs are good.

Juveniles returned to training this week and were welcomed with a cold snap.  Noone said it was going to be easy.

I am looking forward to a year where we establish DSD as Ireland’s top performance club.

Bit of a false start this weekend as the national indoor league action on Sunday (5th) is cancelled because of the weather warning.

At the time of writing, the Dublin Masters XC on Sunday is still on.  Does no one care about the poor masters competing in the cold?  Spotted this evening is the picture of Maria(by Lindie Naughton), results to follow but I am sure the masters of DSD did the club proud.

On 12th January we will host a xc race as part of the women’s meet and train league.  Interestingly, we have permission from our neighbour Mick Heavey to use his land to extend the lap beyond the campus.

Keep on running, organising, training, coaching .....
