This weekend (Saturday 22nd January) sees the return of the World Athletics Northern Ireland International, being held in Dundonald just outside Belfast. The focal point of the event is a Celtic International with teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland competing for top spot.
DSD will have 4 athletes competing on Irish teams throughout the day.
Emma McEvoy runs in the U20 Women’s race at 12.50. Emma recently made her Ireland debut at the Europeans XC Championships in Abottstown last December and will be looking to wear the Irish colours with distinction again this weekend.
Club stalwart Meghan Ryan will be putting on the green singlet again representing Ireland in the Senior Women’s race at 2.15pm.
Rounding out the day we will have Paul O’Donnell and Emmet Jennings, buoyed by their strong performances at the European XC Championships, running on a strong Irish team in the Senior Men’s race at 2.50pm.
In addition to the international Athletes we also have Killian Mooney in the Senior Men’s race and Morgan Clarkson, Eanna O’Braidaigh and Sean Quinn are looking for a DSD team win in the U20 Men’s race at 1.35pm.
And DSD Senior Endurance Coach Donal Hennigan will take charge of the U23 and U20 Men’s Irish Teams competing in the Championships.
